Digital File & Commercial Use Licence Agreement

Last Updated: September 2026

Licensor: Steven Cousley

Website: stevencousley.com

This Licence Agreement governs the download, access, and use of all digital design files (including, but not limited to, .STL, .3MF, .OBJ, CAD project files, and associated digital assets) created, authored, or published by Steven Cousley via stevencousley.com, Patreon, Cults3D, or any other platform.

By downloading, copying, slicing, or 3D printing these files, you agree to be bound by the terms below.

1. Ownership & Copyright Retention

All intellectual property rights, copyright, and title to the digital files and designs remain solely and exclusively with Steven Cousley.

This agreement grants you a limited, revocable, non-transferable, and non-exclusive licence to use the files. Downloading or acquiring a commercial licence does not transfer copyright or ownership of the design to you.

2. Personal Use (Free / Standard Download)

Unless you hold an active, verified Commercial Licence as defined in Section 3, all files are strictly for personal, non-commercial use:

  • Allowed: You may download, slice, and 3D print as many physical copies as you wish for your personal use, display, or gifting to friends and family (with no monetary exchange).
  • Prohibited: You may not sell, trade, barter, or distribute physical 3D prints or physical objects derived from these designs.
  • Prohibited: You may not re-upload, share, host, sublicense, or distribute the digital files (.STL, .3MF, etc.) on any marketplace, forum, cloud drive, or file-sharing repository, whether modified or unmodified.

3. Commercial Licence Terms

If you intend to earn financial income or conduct commercial sales from physical prints of these designs, you must possess an authorized Commercial Licence issued by Steven Cousley (available via an active Patreon Commercial/Merchant Tier subscription or a paid, one-off Lifetime Commercial Licence).

A. Permitted Commercial Activities

  • Sale of Physical Prints: You are licensed to produce and sell physical 3D printed objects derived from the authorized designs.
  • Remixes, Derivatives, and Alterations: You may adapt, scale, remix, or modify the 3D designs for physical sale under this commercial licence, provided that:
    • The resulting physical product includes clear, visible credit to the original work (e.g., “Original design by Steven Cousley – stevencousley.com”).
    • The digital files of any derivative work remain subject to Section 4 and may not be shared, hosted, or sold digitally.

B. Production Constraints & Prohibited Channels

  • In-House Production Only: All commercial physical products must be manufactured on 3D printing equipment owned, leased, or operated directly by the licensee.
  • No Mass Production: Industrial factory production methods—including injection molding, rotational molding, die-casting, and silicone mold production for resin casting—are strictly prohibited.
  • No Third-Party Print-on-Demand (POD): You may not outsource manufacturing to third-party mass fulfillment services or print-on-demand networks (such as Shapeways, Craftcloud, Printify, or third-party print farms).

C. Attribution & Credit

Commercial sellers are asked to include an attribution notice in online product listings (e.g., Etsy, Shopify, social media shops) and physical display tags:

“Design by Steven Cousley (stevencousley.com)”

While displaying proof of licence on your listings is not strictly mandatory, Steven Cousley reserves the right to request proof of purchase or an active subscription if commercial infringement is suspected.

4. Absolute Prohibition on Digital Resale and Sharing

Under no circumstances does any licence (personal, monthly commercial, or lifetime commercial) permit:

  • Selling, renting, licensing, gifting, or sharing the digital files (.STL, .3MF, etc.).
  • Including the digital files in bundles, digital asset packs, or subscription archives.
  • Uploading the digital files to any public or private file-sharing platforms, print repository websites, torrent trackers, or Discord channels.

5. Term, Cancellation, and Expiration of Rights

  • Lifetime Licence: If you purchased a one-time Lifetime Commercial Licence, your right to produce and sell physical prints remains valid indefinitely, subject to ongoing compliance with this agreement.
  • Subscription Licence (e.g., Patreon Merchant Tier): Your authorization to sell physical prints depends on an active paid membership.
  • 30-Day Run-Out Period: Upon cancellation, termination, or non-renewal of your subscription, all commercial rights expire 30 calendar days following the final date of your paid subscription billing cycle. During these 30 days, you may liquidate and sell remaining physical inventory already printed. After 30 days, all sales, marketing, and commercial display of physical prints must cease immediately.

6. Termination & Enforcement

Failure to abide by any term of this agreement automatically voids your licence. Upon breach, Steven Cousley reserves all legal remedies under applicable international copyright and intellectual property laws, including the immediate issuance of DMCA takedown notices to marketplaces, storefronts, and hosting platforms, as well as claims for statutory damages.
